The research strategy of GeoSynergism project consists in (1) exposing the geosynthetics in isolation to different degradation agents (single exposures) and then (2) exposing them successively to combinations of two or more degradation agents (multiple exposures). Based on the changes occurred in the properties of the geosynthetics, the combined action of the degradation agents will be compared to the sum of their individual actions. The research plan of GeoSynergism project is divided in five tasks:
-
Task 1: Selection of geosynthetics
-
Task 2: Single exposure to degradation agents
-
Task 3: Multiple exposures to degradation agents
-
Task 4: Characterisation of the geosynthetics (before and after degradation)
-
Task 5: Evaluation of synergisms in the degradation of geosynthetics
